Packing Up and Moving Out

There were about two weeks between deciding to move into the camper full time and actually doing. In that time, we packed up, found a property manager for renting our house and cleaned the house. Let me tell you - it was exhausting. Every little thing started stressing me out if I thought about it too long, so I tried to just go with the flow and tackle one thing at a time.
It's amazing how much junk you accumulate and don't realize it until you have to either put it in a storage unit, or in a small space like the camper. There was a lot of figuring out what we actually needed, what we wanted, and what we could either throw away or give away. Obviously there are some things that we wanted to keep, like a memory box I have with little trinkets and things of sentimental value. I put that in the storage unit so that I could revisit those memories down the road. Or things like the snowmobile that we don't want to bring with us year round, but want for the winter months. But there was also a lot of stuff that we didn't need. Like books I will never read again, or a desk that we won't need for years. So why not get rid of those things rather than put them in storage?

TJ took charge of fixing the house up. When Morpheus was a really young puppy, we would put him in the bathroom rather than a kennel if we needed to leave him for a little while. Well we quickly learned that he enjoyed chewing on the frame of the door... which means something for TJ to fix! Why not me? Because I would make it worse... There were also some spots on the wall that needed to be touched up, holes that needed to be patched in, and small adjustments to the kitchen. I'm glad he's handy - because I am not in the slightest.
I will say that the whole two weeks was overwhelming. There was more than once that TJ had to look at me and remind me that it's all going to work out and to just breathe. And times I had to do the same for him. What really matters is that we had each other's backs. Took it one day at a time and got it all done. We agreed that every day we would have a cut off time to just stop working on the move. After that cut off time, we would make dinner, hang out, or just spend some alone time apart. He's my favorite person to hang out with, but that doesn't mean we don't need time to ourselves. Especially when there is so much going on.
All in all - I am glad we took the chance to start doing this, but I am glad the moving part is done with. Until we have to go through that storage unit...
